ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Would-be impaired drivers beware: local law enforcement agencies have your number.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced the team-up of multiple agencies for a crackdown on impaired driving this weekend. Agencies participating in the one-night detail include the sheriff’s office, Florida Highway Patrol, and the St. Petersburg, Largo, Clearwater, Indian Shores, Gulfport and Tarpon Springs police departments.

“This operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. “The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate citizens and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

The operation is set to take place the night of Friday, March 18, into the early morning hours Saturday.

While the Wolf Pack is not set to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday, motorists can count on law enforcement officers being on the streets that night, too. In an effort to help keep the holiday celebrations safe, AAA is offering its Tow 2 Go program throughout the Bay area Thursday.
