Case: State v. J.A.C. (Hillsborough County)
Charges: Domestic Battery with Strangulation (felony) (SECOND arrest)
Date: January 8, 2024
Outcome: DISMISSED
Description: On December 21, 2021, J.A.C. was arrested for his second domestic battery against the same victim, K.R.A.J., in the same year. J.A.C. was alleged to have committed a felony domestic battery against K.R.A.J. by squeezing K.R.A.J.’s neck until K.R.A.J. could not breathe and threatening to kill K.R.A.J. Once again, J.A.C. got us on the case early, and we went to work, convincing the State to drop the charges. First, we were successful in convincing the State to file the domestic battery as a misdemeanor and not a felony. Then, we got J.A.C. into a diversion program and got the charge DISMISSED.
