Type: Grand Theft, Felony Violation of Probation of Controlled Substance, and Resisting a Merchant
Practice Area:Criminal defense
Date: 2015-09-11
Outcome: Our client did not spend a single day in prison.
Description: Our client was on felony probation for only 3 months before she was arrested for a new felony (Grand Theft) and a misdemeanor (Resisting a Merchant). The guidelines had her scoring approximately 18 months in prison, a mandatory sentence under the law. Fortunately, we were able to work with our client and have her take some very proactive steps. We negotiated with the State Attorney’s Office, and based on the totality of the circumstances, the State agreed to a sentence that completely avoided any prison time.
