Description: Our client was arrested for an incredibly serious charge – a Burglary with a Battery, which is punishable up to life in prison. Our client hired us after dealing with a different attorney. The other attorney’s goal was to get the case filed as a misdemeanor and enter her into a pre-trial diversion program. While that certainly would be a good outcome, we battled for more. Our firm waived speedy trial for our client and wrote a 9-page letter to the State Attorney’s Office. In our letter, we explained why the case should not be filed at all. After extensive negotiations and discussions with the assigned prosecutor, our client’s case was dropped entirely with the filing of a No Information.
