Case: State v. E.J.I. (Hillsborough County)
Charges: Improper turn/signal
Date: September 13, 2024
Outcome: DISMISSED
Description: A Florida Highway Patrol Trooper thought that E.J.I. was committing several Traffic Court Results infractions but could not prove his suspicions. The Trooper followed E.J.I. and pulled E.J.I. over for an apparent Traffic Court Results violation. E.J.I. was handed a dubious Traffic Court Results ticket. Fortunately, E.J.I. called us to handle the case. We set the matter for a final hearing (E.J.I. did not appear). We conducted the final hearing and cross-examined the Trooper. The hearing officer determined that E.J.I. was not proven to have violated ANY known Traffic Court Results laws. At the close of the State’s case, we moved for a Judgement of Acquittal (meaning that the Trooper failed to prove even a prima facia legal violation). Motion granted. Case DISMISSED. Justice served.
